Dr. Pamela L Riley
Dr. Pamela L. Riley is the President of Safer Schools Portal, Inc. (SSP). SSP is a high quality school safety services company. She was drawn to her current position because of her desire to ensure that schools are able to fulfill their educational missions. Her previous work in schools exposed her to the fact that schools today are in need of assistance to ensure that they are places which are free of crime and conducive to learning.
Dr. Riley is also serving as the Executive Director of the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere. S.A.V.E. is a nonprofit organization that strives to decrease the potential for violence in our schools and communities by promoting student involvement in crime prevention, conflict management, and service learning activities.
Dr. Riley was the Executive Director of the Center for the Prevention of School Violence from its establishment in 1993 until joining S.A.V.E. in late 2000. As Executive Director of the Center, she was a primary point of contact for information, programs, and research about the problem of school violence and efforts directed at preventing it from occurring. Her work provided a bridge for cooperation between various agencies involved in school violence prevention.
Dr. Riley was also a principal and was responsible for implementing creative curriculum and management strategies. Dr. Riley also worked in North Carolina's Department of Public Instruction (DPI) as an education consultant and instructional specialist with expertise in citizenship education. She also taught history and social studies at the middle and high school levels.
Dr. Riley is a state-level Coordinator of Youth for Justice, a national law-related education project. She serves on the advisory board of the Hamilton Fish National Institute on School and Community Violence, the National School Safety Center Editorial Advisory Board, the editorial board of Inside School Safety. In her capacity as S.A.V.E.s director and former director of the Center, Dr. Riley is viewed as a national expert on school violence prevention and has been interviewed by numerous local, state, and national media. She holds an Ed.D. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
